Apple skin Leather

The Melavir Appleskin™ from the Italian producer Mabel is based on the use of fibers from the leftover pomace and peel from the fruit juice and compote industry. This process for making this material is patented by Frumat. By using waste, they do not have to plant or harvest apples for crops, but they also create an opportunity for farmers to generate a second income from their waste, thereby protecting ecosystems and increasing sustainability.

First, the waste product consisting of the peel, body, and fibers of the apple is obtained and the drying process is carried out. The dried product is mixed with polyurethane and laminated on recycled cotton and polyester fabric. Production is carried out according to the density and thickness of the final product. The material has a leather look, without harming animals or harming any aspect of our environment.
